SUMMARY:Foundations of Primary Prevention of Gender-Based Violence
DESCRIPTION:We all want to feel safe at home, in our workplace and out in our community. We want to enjoy healthy and respectful relationships and have the freedom to make choices not constrained by our gender. We want our families and our communities to be free from violence and abuse.\nBut while we regularly see and feel the devastating impacts of gender-based violence, too many people feel helpless to make change in the face of such an entrenched social issue.\nWith the right support, there are things we can do to make Western Australia safer and fairer for the people who’ve been left out.\nPreventing Violence Together (PVT) invites you to learn the skills you need to be part of a movement to end gender-based violence by attending our upcoming Foundations of Primary Prevention of Men’s Violence Against Women workshop.\nWorkshop Outcomes\nThis workshop is based on Western Australia’s framework for primary prevention of men’s violence against women: Foundations for Change. It includes a range of interactive activities and resources. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:\n\nUnderstand men’s violence against women as a gendered issue and identify examples of forms of gender-based violence.\nUnderstand the underlying causes of gender-based violence and identify examples of the gendered drivers in practice.\nUnderstand the characteristics of a primary prevention approach and assess whether a proposed activity is primary prevention.\nIdentify how the gendered drivers are operating at different levels of the socio-ecological model.\nIdentify actions required at different levels of the socio-ecological model to prevent gender-based violence before it occurs.\nRespond effectively to resistance and backlash.\n\nBook your ticket here\n
